Christina Lovering is a nature artist and teacher living outside of Chicago, Illinois. She has always loved art but really began to find her passion and niche upon completing the certificate program for Botanical Illustration at the Chicago Botanic Garden in 2016.
Preferred media include: watercolor, pen and ink, graphite, gouache, acrylic, as well as collage and assemblage. In addition to observing and recording the simple everyday beauty of life in her work, she is interested in stories of nature and its reaction to man-made changes in the environment, and the interdependence of humans and the natural world. Much of her inspiration is taken from the plants, insects, and animals of the midwest as well as invasive plants and other threats to the ecosystem.
She also continues a series illustrating the idea of romantic love through the lens of neurobiology and anthropology. In recent years, this series has evolved into a focus on her love birds illustrations, featuring birds that mate for life. Her work has been exhibited nationally as well as in and around Chicago.
